About the organisation

A careful idea for a serious challenge.

Wildfire Response UK is being developed as a voluntary organisation that could help communities and responsible agencies prepare for, reduce and recover from wildfire risk.

Our purpose

Strengthen the system around the response.

The concept focuses on where trained volunteers may add value without crossing into statutory or specialist professional roles.

That could include carefully defined activity in public education, preparedness, land-management support, logistics, community resilience and recovery. Any future incident-related role would require formal arrangements, suitable training, clear supervision and authorisation from the responsible organisation.

Development statement

No operational teams, response coverage, deployment readiness or public-sector endorsement should be inferred from this website. These are aims being explored, not capabilities currently offered.

Principles from the outset

The boundaries matter as much as the ambition.

01 / Public value

Useful by design

Develop only activity that partners genuinely need and that produces a clear resilience benefit.

02 / Professional respect

Complement, never replace

Respect statutory duties, professional expertise, industrial relations and existing voluntary capability.

03 / Competence

Train for defined roles

Match training, assessment and continuing development to the real risks and responsibilities of each role.

04 / Accountability

Govern before growing

Build safeguarding, insurance, data protection, welfare, health and safety, and transparent oversight into the model.

How we are developing

Listen. Test. Earn trust.

The next stage is about evidence and relationships—not announcing a national capability before the foundations exist.

Understand

Map needs, existing provision, appropriate gaps and the concerns of responsible organisations.

Co-design

Work with potential partners on role boundaries, standards, governance and activation.

Pilot carefully

Only where agreements, resources, assurance and evaluation make a limited test appropriate.

A constructive conversation

Bring experience to the design.

If your organisation works in wildfire, land management, rescue or resilience, we would value your perspective on what responsible voluntary support should—and should not—be.
